Bob Savitt - Some photos where the trolley stopped in Middletown. Bob believes that in 1898 the Trolley was erected on the east side where Ingall's hardware used to be. There was a stop where the Asian Cafe is now. Did the trolley have a station up the hill where Ingall’s was? We’re looking to confirm if anyone knows. The trolley ran from 1898 to 1947. Frederick and Middletown Railway Corporation.

Ron Moss - Family member of the ownership of this business. December 1912 began with six men, mostly Remsburgs and Shafers. Middletown Valley Bank is the oldest business in Middletown and M Garage is the second oldest business in Middletown. They sold the dealership off in 1999. Advertising Oakland and Pontiac manufactured 1926-193. Side note: Irene and Pearl Lighter (sisters) worked the switchboard for the telephone system.

Babs Savitt - A calendar from 1943 G Miller Derr possibly connected to Derrs General Story that used to be on Main Street.

Micheal Tabor - A business card printing press. Originally a salesman would take around the printing press model to promote business. In the early 60’s I made my own business cards with the printing press. Another item of tied up type from a printing press.

Lois Ahalt - Two items

A cane with inscription Dewitt C. Grove 1907 Middletown Does anyone know anything? No. Bob- If you go get a newspaper subscription you could search for the person. Lois- I found a headstone in the cemetery. Travis- where did you get it? Lois- My father.

Coverlet from Peter and Andrew Corick that was made in Middletown, Frederick County MD. Welty made some of them but maybe not this one. It is heavy and it was used for a carriage. Corick can be looked up to find out how old it is and when it was made. Jody commented that there were 3 weavers in Middletown - Frederick Uber, Corick. The pattern is called the cornflower pattern. The borders are unusual.

Bob Savitt - A commemorative plate of the Middletown High School association. A plate came out in the 1950’s showing the school house built in 1908 and then another of 1926. 1952 shows the elementary school. Bob- 1879 first Middletown public school is not on the plate and he wants to know where it was located. It burnt down which is why they built the 1908 school. The group believes the school was near the entrance of the Lutheran cemetery.

Myron Ahalt - My mothers collection of Charlie Phleeger baskets. They all made exactly alike but at different times and different sizes. Charlie grew his own reed (the grass part) and the rush (the stem/ hard part). I bought one at the Harpers Ferry flea market. Jody- did Charlie redo the chair seat? Myron- he could have. Myron also has a presentation of the barns of Middletown but we couldn’t get the computer hooked up to the projector.

Jody Brumage - South Mountain Heritage Society My grandmother worked most of her life at the Hanover Shoe factory Late 50’s - 1984 when it closed (now Dee Buchanan Dance studio building among others). The Hanover building was built in 1887. The Middletown factory was set up as the cutting factory. At its height it was producing 800 shoes per day. Max 230 people were employed. Brunswick Railroad was the main employment for men and for women it was the Hanover shoe factory. Photograph of workers outside of the shoe factory. My grandfather was a house builder, I have his house plan books from Ingalls hardware store. John Calvin Gladhill was my elementary school art teacher and he had a painting of Middletown by a M Rudy or W Rudy.
