“The History of the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company”

By Brian Beaulieu

Please join the Middletown Valley Historical Society to learn about fire company history in Middletown. Brian Beaulieu, Executive Board Member, from the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company will present the history of the MVFC, which was founded on January 26, 1894. It was not until a major fire in 1892 at the old tannery that the community realized the need for organized fire protection. However, the fire service in the area dates back to at least 1803.  Brian will explain where the Middletown Fire Company buildings were first located and later moved and showcase some of the Company's special fire equipment from the past and present.

Refreshments will be served.

Hope to see you there!

Middletown Valley

“One of the most favored and delightful spots on earth.”

— Andrew Jackson (7th president of the United States)

The Middletown Valley Historical Society is headquartered in a home constructed on one of the town's original lots, laid out in 1767.

The present home was constructed prior to 1850 using locally obtained field stone. It is one of the only remaining stone-faced buildings in Middletown.
